Your therapy, where do we start?

Together, we find out what has brought you to therapy.  Well done.  Perhaps you felt timid about coming in, that's normal!  In fact, a good number of people say, "I feel silly for feeling this way".  I don't think it's silly.. You are showing strength and wisdom in wanting to understand your thoughts and feelings.

If you do hold doubting thoughts, perhaps fearing judgement, be aware that everybody experiences this at some levell.  If levels are high, it is worth reosolving. If you're problem is with people, all I can say is that you will learn superior ways of coping with the most difficult of human situations.

This is not a basic 'on the surface' type therapy. This itherapy should result in you  respecting and valuing yoiurself more that you even imagined you could.

The problem that brought you here may feel like 'the last straw'.  You and I will treat this matter as being very important.  You will find strength.. Be prepared to be surprised.

Why is this therapy regarded as the best?

When you leave this first assessment session, which is 75 mins long, you will already have learned more than many people learn in a lifetime. You will already have a strong sense that this was a good decision. I will explain how a highly creative psychoanaytic psychotherapy works and why it is so much more thorough and long lasting than the 'off shoots' rolled out by large public providers.

This therapy is liberating. because we are finding the true you, You will discover that that most peope survive on a story about themselves - you won't need one.  From the initial aerial tour of your life, later sessions will follow through on each element which causes you difficulty.  All therapies should be this good but sadly, very few, if any, are. With nearly 30 years of working with people and their problems, - my experience is utterly key.

Don't go for patching up. Do the job properly. Many of the 'evidence based therapies are 'surface' therapies, filtered off from psychoanalytic therapy.  By themselves they are flimsy and tend to wear off quickly. Most are almost useless where long-term traumatic or family dynamic manipulations have been present.

The biggest difference between psychoanalytic therapy and modern 'surface' therapies, is that psychoanytic therapy is designed to really deal with the main problems as well as the symptoms, wheras 'surface' therapies are designed to simply deal with the symptoms - not the problem, so guess what happens?
